Stuck isn’t a dead end. It’s a starting point.

How a single curious question can turn overwhelm into your next clear, actionable move.

Stuck isn’t a dead end. It’s a starting point.

Almost every business owner who reaches out to me starts the same way. "I’m stuck." Sometimes it’s said with frustration. Sometimes with embarrassment, like being stuck means they did something wrong. Or they are in so much pain that they can’t envision running their business the same way one moment longer.

Here’s what I tell them. Stuck is not a dead end. Stuck is information. It means the way you’ve been running the business got you here, and it won’t get you to the next version of your business. That’s not failure. That’s growth asking for the opportunity.

Why stuck feels so heavy

When you’re stuck, everything feels urgent and nothing feels clear. Cash, people, pricing, the website, the lease, the client who never pays on time. It all lands on your desk at once, and you try to solve all of it, and you solve none of it. Stuck is reactive.

The problem usually isn’t effort. Business owners work harder than almost anyone I know. The problem is that you’re trying to answer every question at the same time, without first finding the one that matters most.

Start with one curious question

I’ve been doing this work since 2011, and I’ve sat across the table from more than 300 business owners. The turning point is almost never a big plan. It’s a better question.

Not "How do I fix everything?" Instead: "What is the one thing that, if I never had to do again, would give me more time in my day so that I can rest easier?"

Sometimes the answer is cash flow. Sometimes it’s one role on your team that isn’t working. Sometimes it’s a price you set three years ago and never looked at again. Once you name it, the fog starts to lift.

Three questions to try this week

Get curious with yourself. Write your answers down, because thinking about them isn’t the same as seeing them on paper.

What am I avoiding? The thing you keep pushing to next week is usually the thing holding everything else up.

Where does my time actually go? Track one week honestly. Most owners are surprised by how much of their day goes to work someone else could do.

What would I tell a friend in my situation? We’re often wiser for other people than we are for ourselves.

Turn the answer into one doable move

Clarity only helps if it turns into action. Take the answer to your most important question and shrink it until it fits on a sticky note. Not "fix cash flow." Something like "call the three clients who owe me money by Friday."

One clear move, done, builds more momentum than ten big plans that never leave your head.

You don’t have to figure it out alone

Being stuck can feel lonely. It doesn’t have to be. Sometimes the fastest way forward is someone outside your business asking the questions alongside you.

That’s what Delve is for. A clear path, an expert partner, and a business you feel confident running. If you’re ready to ask your first question, and find your next move, I’d love to hear where you are.
